Slick Rock Country Emporium

We have over 40 local artists and craftmakers work available for sale featuring handmade rustic furniture, pottery, folk art, jewelry, blown glass, wood bowls & carvings, soap, gourds and fabric arts.

In addition, our grocery is now open featuring milk, bread, ice cream, cold drinks, snacks, cooking supplies, local food products and Slick Rock Roast Coffee.

After working for many years to build Slick Rock Country Emporium, we decided to add an organic garden, mini-barn and chicken coop to our business using Permaculture design principles...

.. "Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and perennial agriculture systems that mimic the relationships found in nature."

The property at Slick Rock was originally an apple orchard that had been uncultivated for ten years. Prior to our ownership, a developer had parceled the land into one acre lots with the intention of building a subdivision. We purchased the lots and restored the homestead.

Permaculture Garden
The garden is located across from Slick Rock Country Emporium in the old apple orchard and has six raised beds. We have designed the garden in a bio-intensive style that mixes vegetables, herbs and flowers together. This creates an organic system that allows us to raise produce with the least amount of space, minimal labor and no chemicals.

Coop inside Mini-Barn
The chicken coop inside the mini-barn is a chicken’s dream with multiple levels for roosting and a nice pen outside, but nothing is too good for our girls as long as they lay eggs in exchange for lots of attention.

Slick Rock Chickens
We look forward to building up the garden and orchard over time to include even more heirloom varieties of organic apples, vegetables, herbs and flowers.
